The lavish Opening Night Gala of La Mirada is already legendary and this year, to celebrate our sixth anniversary, it will feature the unmissable comedic gem Extraterrestrial. After the film we invite you to join us for a range of delicious Spanish tapas, wines and Argentinean beer and wine.
DJ Emma Peel is Melbourne's first lady of latin. She host of weekly radio show, "Switched On" on Melbourne's premiere community radio station, PBS FM (106.7FM): taking listeners on a journey back to the 1960's and 1970's to discover sounds from around the world including: Latin Jazz, Salsa, Boogaloo, Bossa Nova, MPB, Samba, Soul-Jazz, Original Rhythm and Blues and much more. In 2012 she supported 9 times Grammy Award winning latin jazz pianist, Eddie Palmieri, during his Australian tour. Most recently, she supported the King of Latin Soul, Joe Bataan during his only Melbourne concert. She has interviewed a number of musical legends including Tito Puente Jnr and Dr Lonnie Smith.
From 2001 - 2007 Emma hosted Melbourne's longest running Go-Go club, Blow-Up - a unique monthly event which featured go-go dancers in cages, bands, psychedelic lighting and suave DJs. During this time she also DJ'd for the 18.104.22.168's Australian tour, the Melbourne Fringe Festival, Falls Festival, Melbourne Arts Festival and traveled annually to Europe to play at jazz clubs in Italy and France.
